30.09.2016 - 30.09.2016
Another overcast morning and a constant battle with the Internet connection. That set me up with a negative attitude for the morning. My postings to this journal and my picture project are likely to be sporadic for the remainder of the trip.
Up to the Horizon Court for our regular breakfast. We are both trying to limit the intake of calories as we're not doing the walking that perhaps we should. I've also stopped wearing the FitBit because I can't adjust the time due to the flakey Internet. So many things in the electronic sphere appear to be dependant on a constant Internet connection, I just can't achieve that.
Jenny has found a group of ladies who are involved in a range of handicraft projects and she's happily spending time with them. Meanwhile I attended another talk on the objects in outer space. Unimaginable distances away and equally unbelievable sizes.
The Captain made an announcement to explain an unusual manoeuvre during the night. Something we were both totally unaware of. At about midnight he had to divert the ship towards the Spanish coast to rendezvous with a Medical Evacuation helicopter. He was then required to retrace his steps to the traffic controlled canals.
A snack lunch from the International cafe and meet up with Jenny in the cabin. Checked my electric razor to find that it hasn't charged. Looks like I'll have to buy a disposable so that I can look presentable for Formal Night. Over $2 for a single razor is a bit steep though. Between phones, watches and now electric razors life is becoming just too complicated.
Back to the theatre for the last half of the Winston Churchill story. It covered the war years and once again the commentary, from senior people of the time, was less than faltering. Wandered the ship looking for some photo opportunities but failed to find anything spectacular. Back at the cabin I dug out the tuxedo and took the dress shirt to the laundromat for a touch-up with the iron.
Down to the Michelangelo Dining Room for a delicious meal and then off to the theatre for tonight's musical magic spectacular. With just over 30 minutes to show time it was announced that due to 'technical and safety' issues the advertised show would not be staged. The replacement act was being organised.
At show time they dragged the guest comedian, Josh Daniels onto the stage. Story was that he hadn't even finished his meal. His act was OK with some very funny interludes but many of his jokes were old and if we'd had anything better to do we'd have left.
There's no specific photo to point to, if you want to see the latest, view my project following this link to the main album.
Wishing you good health and safe travel.
Have a great day and stay well.
Cheers .. Tony
