First Sea Day

Thursday, 29 September 2016

After the best night's sleep in a long while we woke to a dull, overcast sky with a light swell to keep the ship in motion. Breakfast in the Horizon Court and while Jenny attended a health seminar I spent time in the Wheelhouse Bar writing up yesterday's report. After a light snack at the International Cafe I visited the Future Cruises Desk and paid for two cruises. Still the best $100 spend.

Settled into the Princess Theatre for two lectures and the afternoon movie. The first topic examined the Solar System, presented by Peter Anderson. Much of his photographic material was captured by his back-yard telescope. He has an impressive set-up outside Brisbane. The next speaker was his wife Evon Anderson, a historian, revealing some of the less known facts about Winston Churchill, not a very nice person from many accounts.

Stayed for the afternoon movie, a weird, violent film "The Nice Guys" starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling. I stayed to the end, Jenny left not long after it started. I still don't understand what the plot was or who the real villains were. Lots of shooting, drinking, scantily clad women, mumbled dialogue and gratuitous violence.

A pleasant dinner and back to the cabin to start writing this report. Rounded off the day with a show in the Princess Theatre. We were royally entertained by Phillip Browne a star of many West End shows including his debut appearance in the Lion King. His voice was enormous and richly deserved the audience's ovations.

Clocks go forward an hour tonight as we sail in a South Easterly direction.

Best I can come up with is a picture of our stateroom view it by following this link to the image for Today

Wishing you good health and safe travel.

Have a great day and stay well.
Cheers .. Tony
