Busy Day on Isle Of Wight

Sunday, 25 September 2016

First thing this morning we found an Email advising us that our dear friend Bert had passed away after a long and painful struggle against multiple medical conditions..

After a subdued breakfast we're off to the Red Funnel Ferry Terminal. An interesting one hour trip across the Solent arriving at East Cowes on the island. Not a lot to see this side of the waterway so we crossed on the Chain Ferry. £1 for a return trip on this ancient vehicle ferry linked by chains. The Western side of Cowes was much more vibrant and in places was decidedly busy. One Fish & Chips shop had a queue stretching out into the street.

The main street was winding and narrow with many bars, coffee shops and restaurants. Even managed to pick up some bargains before returning to the Red Funnel Ferry. A pleasant voyage back to Southampton after which we found yet another food outlet for a light dinner. Back at the hotel the FitBit clocked up 19,000 steps for the day.

Snapped a shot of the narrow streets in West Cowes, view it by following this link to the image for Today

Wishing you good health and safe travel.

Have a great day and stay well.
Cheers .. Tony

Enjoy your trip. I'm looking forward to reading your blogs. Sorry to hear about Bert. They wait until you are gone from the room. In your case out of the country. Love to you both. Maria
